Turtle Head

Take me out
to the lake again,
to hear
the small birds
sing.

Show me the trees
and ragged rocks,
the water’s edge
on the best of walks.

Ripples on
the surface
as we, walking by,
are soothed
as we go.

A quiet calms
us as we pass.

We listen
carefully and
hear the whisper
of water
slapping on the bank.

  1. Vast and immobile. Rivers on the other hand tend to rush along, lakes are still bodies of water, influenced by the blowing of the wind. Beautiful moments captured in poetry.
