Poppy in the Sun

Poppy in the Sun

a blast of colour
   confronts us
in our walk.
it gives me
      pause,
and so i stop.

      i think of
   bright and
shiny things
      that i
   might want.
but though they
   sparkle
in the light,
i know better,

   so I like to think,
because their glitter
has so little meaning
      in fast
approaching night

  1. What a beautiful confrontation,
    [It gives me pause]
A breathtaking line, I’ve never met a field of poppys in that magnitude not even where I live with summer rains, that has changed too. I can only liken the encounter to coming upon a field of daisies, one is given to pause.

Amazing what, love happiness, peace and joy brings to light.

Thank you for showing us the Poppy under a different light through your poetry.

(International opium conferences held in the Hague in 1912 and in 1914 identified the Union of South Africa as a critical region for controlling โ€˜dangerous drugsโ€™.)

      1. Not to mention.
Huh?…..Not on your life. We need natural good crazy in these times.
Sorry if I came across as being mean. That was not the intention. I shall try to be more discerning in my wording next time.
        Good night.

      2. Thank you, yes, careful is a wonderful practice, but I’m pleased to hear that I don’t need to be too careful around you.

        Have a pleasant day.
