Promises

Promises

   there will
      be food
   and plenty
the cornstalks
      seem to say.

   (promises
   as good
      as any)

   and what
are promises
   but hopes
   expressed.

   guarantees
are not
      possible.

   if we had
   guarantees,
could we expect
      to collect,

if all
   the wheels
   fall off
   all the
wagons?

      some day,
   we should
   expect,
we'll make
calculations:

how many
   people can
   an acre feed?

It takes Providence and frugal management of the acre to decide that, so in the calculation nobody is left out.

    (and what

Just this morning I was immersed in the differences between a covenant, a promise and a vow. And in theses waters I got the feeling that the divine covenant is truly the law, the love and the grace that is binding. Whereas the vow is a specific promise given the Agreement two parties or more enter into which is binding. In that vow we make is the promise for example to love you forever, to help you to prosper and to protect you…..
So let’s see that the wheels don’t come off.
Stoic poetry and worthy to read again and again
