Some Flowers

   some flowers,
like sunflowers,
   seem to get
our attention.

      we'll eat
the salted seeds.
   so will many
little brown birds,
(fresh, unsalted)
   fulfilling their
very modest needs

entertaining
   us easily,
because we are
so amusable.
because they
      are so
worthy.

sunflowers too,
are worthy. who
   could deny it?

   some flowers,
like sunflowers,
   seem to get
   our attention.

I’m inclined to use the technical language and names ascribed to poetry, names like poesy or epode. Some poetry are mixed and others are pure to form. So I’m further inclined to call this little verse

    (some flowers,
    like sunflowers,
    seem to get
    our attention)

Poesy. Easy and catchy they fall upon the ears to receive our attention.

Helianthus annuus, is native to the Americas, a glorious plant and family to 70 different species. Worthy?- the entire plant is edible not just the seeds, indigenous tribes have been dining on them for centuries. Recently mankind has cottoned onto growing them as ornamental plants and breeders have been quick to respond.

    Worthy worthy poetry.
