Tree, Reeds and Lake

Tree, Reeds and Lake

   cold waters,
      swimming
silver bodies

      waterbugs
scooting through
a reed forest

bark beetles
      scurry,
preyed on by
woodpeckers

   meanings
   are lost,
   may not
   be found

we'll never
   fully know
that alien
landscape.

   cold waters,
      swimming
silver bodies

      waterbugs
scooting through
a weed forest

bark beetles
      scurry,
preyed on by
woodpeckers

  1. Lovely! Your phrase “silver bodies” reminds me forcefully of float fishing for silver fish (Roach, Rudd and Perch). I have been waiting for some reasonable weather so I can go for a week now!

      1. Hi jofox2108! That fish doesn’t look like what I’ve seen in BC. We get trout mostly. In Okanagan Lake, they have invasive carp (goldfish that were flushed down the toilet, I rhink).

  2. Woodpeckers
    Bugs and Beetles
    Young we be

    Silver bodies
    Floating free
    In the wide

    Wide sea
    Whales blowing
    Tales from down deep

The woods, forests, trees and lakes oh yes and the reeds dancing for the wind feels lovely. I’d prefer to be.
