Passing Through

Passing Through

these mountains
      are a barrier,

it's not easy to
      get through.

   tectonic plates
have no subtlety

   they drive together
and something gives.

      these went up,
   millions of years
before our time.

impressive to us
      insignificants.

these mountains
      rose miles high,
   made solid walls.

   you will not pass
this place unless
      you are a bird,

(or find a passge
through granite walls)

in good standing
   with a guild of
   feathered kind.

      rising up to
lonely clouds

   a little short
      of heaven.
