Across the Lagoon

just across the lagoon,
we see ancient buildings,

perched at the edge
of the mediterranean

the lagoon sits quietly
like a crocodile
waiting patiently.

so many questions,
we are such curious,
sometimes foolish
creatures.

the edge of a lagoon
is a curious place.

why would anyone
want to live there?

(legend has it that
it was a refuge.)

why would anyone
want a refuge like that?

some of the questions
we might ask
have no acceptable
answers.

if i examine
my thoughts,
i know that if i
want an answer
to my question(s)

i want a beautiful
answer.
don't bring me down!

the lagoon sits quietly
like a crocodile
waiting patiently.

  1. I love the following (well I love the whole poem, getting a 5 star constellation from me) x … To sit watching that crocodile/lagoon might be a curious way to spend an afternoon … πŸ™‚

      1. Thank you d.a.simpsonwriter!

I have a valued old (80+ years) coffee buddy, who I have not seen in close to a year, I guess.

He counters damage too-much-praise I might get might do, telling me I’m getting too conceited, whenever he thinks I need to be reminded.
